Trevor Gleeson’s Inspiring Story
Coaching the Perth Wildcats to Victory.
Five time champion basketball coach for the Wildcats, Trevor Gleeson has had a career most would be envious of. From humble beginnings, he enjoyed playing sport as a kid and was brought up with a strong mentality “if you want something, you need to work hard for it’’. Gleeson was only 18 when he suffered a traumatic injury which changed his life. After a few years of trying to get back into sport, he realised his dreams of playing professionally were over and decided to turn to coaching. He went onto become a development coach in Brisbane with the Bullets, which then lead him to venture overseas coaching basketball in both the US and then South Korea for a number of years. It wasn’t until he moved to Perth in 2013 to coach the Wildcats that he made a big impact with the club, turning this good team into a great team. Trevor is classed as the most successful sporting coach in WA with 5 championships under his belt with the Perth Wildcats. Trevor’s highlight to the season is the Pink game to support Breast Cancer awareness, players and member’s alike get into the spirit by dressing up in pink which he thanks the fans for their support of the cause.
