We missed you quietly today So quietly that no one noticed We missed you when we opened our eyes and climbed out of bed , as we brushed our teeth, as we waited at the lights on the drive in to work , as we heard your song on the radio. You know, one of the songs that ever played around you, the one you knew the words to, and then again with the one you always played. We missed you at lunch, on the way to the shops, and again on the way home after remembering that one thing we went in for and forgot. We missed you as we kicked off our shoes, turned off the lights and climbed into bed for the night. We missed you without tears Or noise Or fanfare But oh how we felt it. We felt it again in the morning , at lunchtime, in the afternoon and at night. We felt it on waking, when waiting, and as we work. We felt it at home, on the road, at work, in the light, in the dary, in the rain and the bright shining days. We felt it in every one of those moments, each one sitting heavier and heavier as the weight of missing you keeps growing and growing. Yes, we missed you quietly today, but we felt it oh, so loudly. What's important is not that we missed you, what's important is that we got a reminder of the love we had for you, a love that may temporarily have nowhere to go with you gone. So for every time we miss you, we will love ourselves a little more, for that is exactly where your love would have gone. The love we gave you returned, that's your style. So we thank you, for the reminder, that our love reaches you, when we direct it to ourselves.
